SAM
HARTSELL
will have 40 years of law enforcement experience
and training the last day of October this year,
with the last 30 years serving as Chief of Police.
Sam
began his Law Enforcement career by joining the
Greene County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve
deputy sheriff in 1969 where he served as both
Squad Leader and Department Training Officer. In
1973 he joined the ranks of the Republic Police
Department when it began its service to the
community and later became a full-time patrolman
in 1975. He advanced to the position of Chief of
Police in 1979. He served in this capacity until
2001.
Sam
served as Chief of Police in
Cassville
,
Missouri
in 2002 and later accepted the position of Chief
of Police for the City of Centralia, Missouri
where he served May of 2003 to March 2007. Sam
presently serves as the Chief of Police in Buffalo,
Missouri
since his appointment August 25th,
2008.

In 1981
Sam
attained his National Certification in
Professional Law Enforcement and attained
recognition as “Top Shooter” at the State Law
Enforcement Firearm’s
Instructor
School
. He has received numerous awards and recognitions
on the National, State and Local levels. He has
both served and chaired on various Law Enforcement,
Executive
Boards and Community Safety Groups. He was elected
as Law Enforcement of the Year by the Springfield, Missouri Optimist Club in 1982 and in 1988
initiated and organized the Southwest Missouri
Police Chief’s Task Force, serving as Charter
President. He attained his State Certification in
Fire Investigation in 1987, and is a 1997 Graduate
of the Law Enforcement Training for the Chief
Executive Officer at the
National Center
for Missing and Exploited Children.
Sam
is a 1992 Graduate of the FBI’s Course in Law
Enforcement Executive Development and a 1993
Graduate of the
FBI
National
Academy. The FBI
National
Academy
has long been a vital element in the continuing
improvement of law enforcement standards,
knowledge, and cooperation throughout the world.
The National Academy experience and its sister
program, "Field Police Training,"
provide a wide range of leadership and specialized
training, as well as an opportunity for
professional law enforcement officers to share
ideas, techniques, and experiences. The curriculum
focuses on leadership and management training
and consists of courses relating to Management
Science, Behavioral Science, Law, Education,
Forensic Science and Health/Fitness. Following
graduation each officer has the opportunity to
join the FBI National Academy Associates, a
dynamic organization of more than 25,000 law
enforcement professionals who have played a
significant role in developing a higher level of
competency, cooperation, and integrity within the
law enforcement community.
The
FBI
National Academy is considered the
most prestigious law enforcement school available.
The academy has long been a vital element in the
continuing improvement of law enforcement
standards, knowledge, and cooperation throughout
the world. Once nominated, the Officers undergo an
extensive background check and interview process. Admission
to the FBI
National
Academy
is very limited: only 1/2 of 1 percent of all law
enforcement in the free world is invited by the
Director of the FBI to attend the academy.
Internationally know for its academic excellence,
selected Law Enforcement officers with proven
records as professionals from around the world,
submit to concentrated studies of advanced
investigative, management and demanding physical
training for eleven weeks.
Diplomatic
Status in the American board of Law Enforcement
Experts of the American
College
of Forensic Examiners was awarded to
Sam
in 1999. In 2001 he was elected 6th
Vice President of the NACOP (National Association
Chief’s of Police), and honored with life
membership in the IACP (International Association
Chief’s of Police) for his active membership of
over 20 Years.
Sam
was elected and served as Chairman of LETSAC, 2000
- 2002. The
Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council,
State of
Missouri, is the primary traffic law enforcement group
under the authority of Missouri Department of
Transportation’s (MoDOT) Division of Highway
Safety. The L.E.T.S.A.C. organization provides a
link between the local law enforcement agencies,
including city, county and state, and the
Governor’s Highway Safety Office under the
Department of Public Safety. Specifically the
Organization provides training, information,
services, and expert testimony to the General
Assembly on a wide variety of requested issues.
The organization holds an annual conference each
summer to provide up-to-date training for
attending traffic officers. In addition the
organization has several standing committees that
deal with a variety of issues that effect traffic
and highway safety in
Missouri
. The board is made up of elected law enforcement
officials in each of the M.S.H.P troops, as well
as an appointed board member from
Kansas City
,
St. Louis
, and the M.S.H.P. He served as an active
executive board member since 1991 and Past
Chairman in 2003 and 2004. LETSAC works directly
with the Missouri Department of Transportation’s
Division of Highway Safety in promoting more
effective traffic safety and enforcement efforts.
Sam
’s hobby is cottonwood bark carving and is a
member of the National Wood Carving Association.
He resides with his wife Patricia in
Buffalo,
Missouri. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law and
five grandsons.

I am Lisa Mitchell and I have recently become the Office Manager for the Buffalo Police Department. I am originally from Shreveport, LA., and I moved to Buffalo in 1979. I am married to Rick Mitchell, and we have one daughter, Rachel who is 20. I have worked in the banking community for the past 15 years, and I feel my experience working with the public will benefit the police department. I am a big football fan, and of course, being from Louisiana that means the Saints and LSU Tigers are my favorites. I enjoy gardening, going to the lake and spending time with my daughter.

- DEANA HUNT, #106 I am Deana M. Hunt I was born in Charleston, SC, and I moved to Missouri in 1991. I graduated from Wheatland High School in 1997, and graduated from the Missouri Deputy Sheriff training academy in 2002 as Valedictorian. My career in law enforcement started in 2001 where I worked in Camden County as a 911 dispatcher, and I have approximately 8 years in law enforcement.
I started with the Buffalo Police Department in April of 2008. I have two beautiful girls named Jaelynne, and Julianne . After my girls and my family, my career in law enforcement is very important to me. Part of what I love about law enforcement is the constant change; no day is ever the same. I really love working for Buffalo, and hope to continue to do so for many years.

I was
born in 1982 in San Antonio Texas. Later my family
moved to Willard, Missouri where I was raised and
graduated Willard High School.
In
October of 2001 I joined the U. S. Army. After
the 09/11/01 tragedy I spent 2 tours in the Middle East.
After
graduating the Law Enforcement Academy at Drury University
in 2010 in Springfield, Missouri I became a member of the
Buffalo Police Department.

My law enforcement career began with my graduation from the Drury Law Enforcement Academy in May of 2009.
I then accepted a position as police officer with the City of Galena, Missouri.
During my time in Galena I also served as the City Emergency Management Director.
I am now employed as the K-9 Officer for the City of Buffalo.
It is my belief that the position of K-9 Officer provides me with a unique
opportunity to interact with Buffalo citizens of all ages. Building strong
and positive relationships between the police department and community is
very important to me and I am honored to play a part in creating a safer community.

In October of 2007 the Buffalo Police Department in order to expand the department’s efforts in
combating the drug problem adopted a police service dog from the
United States Department of
Defense.
Gyozi L236, Male, German Shepherd, whelped December 14, 2005, was purchased in the
Netherlands on February 26, 2007 by the Department of Defense, Military Working Dog
Program. He received Air Force Aggressiveness (Patrol) training and was purchased as a dual
candidate and his ‘procurement goal’ was
Patrol/Drug.
He was eliminated from the Lackland Air Force Base government working dog program by being
adopted out on October 16, 2007 by the Buffalo Police
Department.

I
was born in Springfield, MO and raised in Republic. I
enjoy playing any sport and shooting guns. In June 2010 I
graduated from the Drury University Law Enforcement
Academy. After the academy I went to school and worked
before applying at the City of Buffalo. In June of 2011, I
was hired as a reserve officer in Buffalo and in August
went to full-time. I enjoy serving the citizens of Buffalo
anyway I can and wish to do so for years to come.

I graduated from Drury University Police Academy in 2004 and started my career in Law Enforcement with the Buffalo Police Department the same year. While at the Buffalo Police Department I was promoted the rank of Corporal and later Sergeant. I left the Buffalo Police Department in 2008 to work for the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. While at the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office I was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 2010 I was given the opportunity to work for BNSF Railway in the mechanical division at the service track in Springfield and left the Sheriff’s Office. I still wished to serve in Law Enforcement and was able to come back and work as a Reserve Police Officer for the Buffalo Police Department in July 2011.

I am a reserve police officer for the Buffalo City Police Department. My training was at Drury University Law Enforcement Academy where I later graduated in 2009. I am trained in defensive tactics and tactical handgun along with numerous other aspects of police work. Having lived in Dallas County nearly all my life and interested in police work I began my career with the Buffalo Police Department in 2010. Helping make Buffalo a drug free community and a safer place for families to raise their children is my goal. I currently reside with my wife in Dallas County and hope to continue to serve the City of Buffalo for years to
come.

I have been a resident of MO all my life. I was
born and raised in Springfield, MO. And I attended
High school at Logan-Rogersville.
I served in the U.S Army in
counter-intelligence and was stationed at Ft. Gordon,
GA. After
the military I decided to pursue a career in law
enforcement and graduated from Drury University law
enforcement academy in Dec of 2009.
I enjoy helping people and being involved in
the community and I am happy law enforcement gives me
the opportunity to do just that. I am very honored to
serve the citizens of Buffalo and I hope to do so for
many years to come.

I graduated from Buffalo High School in 2005. After high school I met my wife and now live in Hickory county. I'm a gear head, I loving working on old muscle cars and going to car shows. I also enjoy hunting and fishing in my spare time.
In 2010 I enrolled in the Missouri Sheriffs Training Academy and graduated May of 2011. After graduation I applied for a position with the Buffalo Police Department and received a reserve position. In August of 2011,
I received a fulltime position as a patrol officer with the Buffalo Police Department. I enjoy helping people and hope to serve the city of Buffalo for years to come.

I was
born on November 16th, 1983 in Amarillo
Texas. At the age of six my family moved to Dallas
County, where I started school at D.A. Mallory
Elementary. I continued my education through
the Dallas County Schools until I graduated in 2004. While
attending high school I met my wife Jamie. After
graduating high school I pursued a career as an Auto
Mechanic. I later decided
that it wasn't the right job for me and wanted to make a
career change so I enrolled at the Drury University Law
Enforcement Academy. On June 18th,
2010 I graduated Drury as class Valedictorian.
Shortly after graduation I applied for a position
at the Buffalo Police Department for which I was hired.
I enjoy serving the citizens of Buffalo in any way that
I can. In my spare
time I enjoy target shooting, Hunting, and Dirt biking.
