The City of Buffalo recently acquired five sets of new bunker gear for the Fire Department thanks to a grant from Rural Development. The purpose of the grant which is funded through USDA is to provide equipment to rural communities so that they can provide essential services to their community.
The City received $6,825 from Rural Development towards the purchase of fire gear. Each set included the coat, pants, gloves, helmets, boots and hood. This new gear allows the department to outfit existing firefighters in gear that is safer than the outdated gear they were previously issued.
